DEKALB USBC ANNUAL MEETING

All Area Sanctioned Bowlers Are Welcome!

Meeting begins at 7:00 PM

This meeting is to keep you informed of what the board has been doing for the past year and to find out in what direction they are headed for the 2011-2012 season. It is also your chance to vote for new board members!

Topics of discussion will include:

  • Annual reports

  • Annual financial statements

  • Election of new Board of Directors - sanctioned bowlers, this is your opportunity to elect the people you want to represent you on the Board. We need your votes!

Board Member Applications are available here at www.dekalbusbc.com (click here to download as a PDF), as well as at Four Seasons Sports and Mardi Gras Lanes, for anyone interested in serving on the DeKalb Area USBC Bowling Association Board.

Requirements to be a Board Member:

  • Be committed to attending at least 80% of board meetings. All dates are set at the first of season. Keep these dates on your calendar.

  • Be committed to attend and participate in the activities of the committee(s) you are appointed to.

  • Assist in the activities of the committees of which you are not a member.

  • Be familiar with both the USBC Policy and Procedures (found at www.bowl.com) and the DeKalb Area USBC Association Bylaws and Policy Procedures.

  • Promote the activities of the association and the sport of bowling.

  • Show and promote good sportsmanship.

Applications can be returned to Dana Doty or Jo Ann Russell. If left at the center counter, please specify that this application goes to Dana or Jo Ann.

Congratulations to Brandi Underwood who placed 4th and led the DeKalb Girls Bowling Team to a 12th place finish in the Illinois State Bowling Tournament held 2/11 -2/12/11 at Cherry Bowl Lanes in Rockford, IL.  Congrats to all!

As the temperatures begin to rise outside, the lanes heat up at Mardi Gras Lanes this March. Congratulations to Brian Oest who was the latest bowler in the DAUSBC association to bowl a 300 game. Brian bowled his first career 300 during his second game of the night Tuesday (3/15/11) during the Business and Professional league. Brian bowls one night a week in which he averages a 195. The perfect score was shot with a Columbia Messenger. Congratulations Brian!

   

During the Northern Illinois 700 Club Invitational Doubles tournament held at Mardi Gras Lanes on Sunday, 03/06/11, Jerry Belluzzi rolled a 268, 278, 267 for a 813 series.  Jerry bowled the series with a Track 916AT bowling ball that he drilled himself at Jerry Belluzzi's Pro Shop, now located at Mardi Gras Lanes.  Jerry is a member of multiple leagues which include the Wednesday DeKalb Elks league, the Bud Light Thursday Men's League at Mardi Gras Lanes and the Friday Night Mixers league at Four Seasons Sports in Sycamore, IL.

   

Anthony "Tony" Jordan, of the Thursday Night  Miller Lite Phil Johnson Classic league, bowled a 276, 225, 279 for a 810 series on 02/10/11.  Tony shot the series with a Motiv Primal bowling ball.

   

Congratulations to Jim Jamison who, on Monday, 2/07/11, shot a 300 during his second game and an 826 series for the night.  Jim threw this during the University Plaza league at Mardi Gras Lanes.  During Jim's night, he shot 26 consecutive strikes.  This was Jim's first night bowling with his new bowling ball, the Hammer Taboo, drilled by Jerry Belluzzi.  Jim has averaged a 211 during the league so far this season.  He also bowls on Thursday night at Mardi Gras Lanes as well. 

   

Congratulations to Michael Porter who shot a 300 game on Tuesday night, 1/25/11, in the Business and Professional league at Mardi Gras Lanes. 

   

Congrats to Kurt Latenbach, of the Sunday Night Mixed League at Four Seasons Sports, who shot a 300 game on 2/20/2011. He has been bowling for 12 years and this is his first 300 game. He bowled it with a Black Widow ball. He averages 173 in the Sunday Mixed league at Four Seasons.

   

Congrats to Dave Westlake, who on Friday 2/18/2011, shot a 300 game and a 714 series.  Dave is averaging a 212 this season during the league at Four Seasons Sports and shot the 300 with a Brunswick Absolute Inferno bowling ball.  Dave also bowls in Rochelle on Thursday night at TByrd Lanes.

   

In the same week, Mardi Gras Lanes had 2 bowlers shoot 800. Eric Cote, a member of the Tuesday Night Business and Professional league, shot his first ever 800 on 3/1/11. With a Storm Virtual Gravity bowling ball, Eric shot a 234, 277 and a 289. Eric is averaging a 220 in the league currently.

 

 

 

 

The next night, on 3/2/11, in the Wednesday DeKalb Elks League, Stacy Royalty bowled a 299, 267, and a 248 for an 814 series. Stacy is averaging a 209 this season and shot the series with a Columbia Messenger. This is Stacy's second 800 series of her career.

 
Open Tournament bowlers shoot 300 Games!!
   

During the DAUSBC Open Tournament weekend on January 29 and 30th, 2011, being held at Mardi Gras Lanes, two tournament bowlers reached perfection. Andy Cadie shot his second career 300 game on 01/29/11 while bowling his third game during his singles event in the tournament. Andy is a member of the University Plaza league that bowls on Monday Nights at Mardi Gras Lanes. Cadie bowled his game with a Storm 2nd Dimension.

   

More was to follow on Sunday, 01/30/11, where Jeremy Wilkerson bowled his first career sanctioned 300 game during the his third game of his singles event of the tournament. Jeremy bowls in many leagues throughout the year in the DAUSBC association. Jeremy was psyched to finally bowl a 300 game and join his father and brother who also have obtained the perfect game in the sport.

Congrats to both!

Congrats goes out to Zak Fitzenreider who bowled a 300 game during the Phil Johnson Classic League on Thursday, 01/27/11, at Mardi Gras Lanes. Zak also bowls in the DeKalb Elks Mixed league at Mardi Gras Lanes as well throughout the bowling season.

   

Congratulations to AJ Fraedrich who bowled a 300 during the Monday Night Men's League at Four Seasons Sports on 01/24/11. AJ averages a 205 in the league this season and bowled the game with a Track 916 bowling ball. AJ is also a member of the Wednesday Night Business league and the Friday Night Mixers league both held at Four Season Sports.

   

Congratulations to Greg Freeman who shot a 300 game on 1/19/11 in the DeKalb Elks Mixed League held at Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb.  Greg, a DeKalb USBC Association Hall of Famer, reached perfection during his first game and is averaging 210 in the league so far this season.  He bowled the game with a Storm Ace bowling ball.  The 300 was Greg's 9th career perfect game.  Greg mentioned that the key to this game was that he enjoyed dinner, drinks, and some great country music at Daisy's Bar and Grill prior to bowling.  Greg stated he was in a great state of mind to begin the night...the night of perfection!

   

Artie Alberts, of the Thursday Night Bud Light Men's League at Mardi Gras Lanes, bowled a 300 game to begin his night on 12/9/10. He bowled it with a Track 916 bowling ball and followed up his game with a 219 and a 257 for a 776 series. Artie averages a 210 in the league for the season.

   

Randy Ford, of the Wednesday Night Business League at Four Seasons Sports, on 12/29/10, finished out his year by bowling a perfect game in his second game of the night. He bowled a 729 series that night. Randy averages a 201 in the league this season.

   

Nicholas Geaslin, of the Wednesday DeKalb Elks Mixed League at Mardi Gras Lanes, started the New Year off right when he threw a 300 game on 1/5/11. Nicholas threw the game with a Ebonite Mission and continued the night throwing a 280 and a 218 for a nice 798 series. Nick is averaging a 210 in the league this season.

   

James Cartee, from Four Seasons Sunday Night Mixed League, bowled a 300 his last game to finish off his night of 1/09/11 in style. Jim, who averages a 210 for the league, had a 751 series for the night. James threw his 300 game with a Track 916 bowling ball.

   

James Vonderheide, of the Tuesday Business and Professional League at Mardi Gras Lanes bowled a 300 during his second game on January11th. Jim finished out the night with a 206 for a 701 series. This is Jim's second 300 of his career.

LELAND RUSSELL!

Leland bowled his very first 300 game at Four Seasons in the Friday Early Mixers on December 10. He said that he has been bowling since 1969 so it was about time.

On November 12 Trent bowled a 300 game with a 706 series in the Friday Early Mixers league at Four Seasons Sports. Trent currently carries an average of 202.

JOE BADE!

Leagues were barely underway when Joe bowled the first 300 game of the season on the Friday Early Mixers League at Four Seasons. On August 27th, he rolled his first ever 300 game along with a 740 series and currently averages 205.
 

   

Congratulations to John Hietikko, who bowled a 300 game on December 1st, 2010. John, who averages a 202 in the Wednesday Night DeKalb Elks league at Mardi Gras Lanes, bowled a 212, 300, 193 for a 705 series. This 300 Game is one of many for John, but his first since making a comeback from shoulder difficulties last year. Congratulations John on your accomplishment!!

   

DAUSBC would also like to congratulate James Cradduck who bowled a 300 game on Monday, 11/29/10, during his University Plaza league at Mardi Gras Lanes.

   

Congratulations to Brian Salapatek on bowling an 814 series on Tuesday, 9/14/10. While subbing in the Business & Professional league at Mard Gras Lanes in DeKalb, Brian shot a 289, 268 and a 257 for an explosive 814 series. Brian is a full-time bowler of the Miller Lite Phil Johnson Classic league at Mardi Gras Lanes.

DAUSBC would like to thank the 47 doubles teams that participated in this years Annual Mixed Tournament.   DAUSBC would also like to thank the workers of Four Seasons Sports who assisted us in making this tournament a success.  It was a great tournament and congrats to all of the winners.  Our First Place Team of this years tournament is Kari Harold and Joe Barrile who bowled a 1489.   Congratulations also goes out to Jerry Belluzzi who bowled a 300 during this tournament.

2010-2011 Honor Roll

 

We would like to Congratulate Mike Reines for bowling a 300 game on Saturday, October 23rd in the Champs in the Midst league at Four Seasons Sports. Mike is a senior at Sycamore High School and bowls on the school’s bowling team. After graduation Mike plans on going to a college, he is not sure where yet, but knows that it will have to have a bowling team. This is his third 300 game, one in practice and one while pre-bowling. He has also had an 800 series while open bowling.

 

Congratulations to Michael Nelson of the Four Seasons Sports Friday Night Mixers League.  Mike bowled a 300 game in his second game on 10/29/10.  Mike added a 233 and a 238 game that night to shoot a 771.  This evening capped off a great month of October bowling for Mike.   Mike bowled four 700 plus series which also included a 299 in the month raising his season average to an impressive 224. Congrats, Mike, on your outstanding performance on the lanes!

Congratulations Linda Stouffer!

Linda was very surprised to hear that she was the winner of the freezer. She purchased her winning ticket from Renee Garcia from Mardi Gras Lanes. She said that they lost their last freezer in a flood and never replaced it so they would be putting this one to good use. Again, Congratulations to Linda and her
family on winning the freezer.

We would also like to thank those that helped put items in the freezer; Country Store and Catering, Four Seasons Sports, Jewel Food Store, Kishwaukee College, Mardi Gras Lanes, and Whitman’s Catering.
