PROFILE: KARYN SMITH

We chose Karyn Smith as our first “bowler profile” because she is only the 2nd woman in the association to bowl a “300 game.” It was bowled last season on November 21, 2005.

When did you start bowling? When I was around 5 years old.
Do you bowl right or left handed? Right
How many times a week do you bowl? 3
What is your current highest average? 190’s
What type of ball do you use? Bruswick Inferno
Which lanes do you bowl at most? Mardi Gras
What are some of you hobbies? I love to garden – especially canning salsa, taking photos of family and friends – love taking pictures of my husband wake boarding, and using my computer.
Family: Husband Mike, Shibaina dogs Brandy and Spencer

Karyn was very excited, of course, when she bowled her 300 game. Her husband usually doesn’t come and watch her bowl but he surprised her that night and showed up. “It was nice for him to be there and support me” she said.

She was motivated by watching Kaitlyn Young bowl for the Sycamore High School team as they bowled against DeKalb and used Kaitlyn for her strength. After being a member of the DHS bowling team herself, she has become one of their most loyal fans! You can see her at most meets cheering them on.

One of the funniest comments that Karyn made was that she didn’t know that she could jump that high. …..perhaps we should ask Mike!!!
