报告题目:Recent Advances on Inverse Problems for Time-Fractional Diffusion

报告摘要:Time-fractional diffusion represents a flexible modeling framework for describing anomalously slow diffusion processes in complex media. The relevant mathematical models often involve a fractional derivative in time which is inherently nonlocal in time. The nonlocality induces limited smoothing properties of the solution operators. In this talk, we discuss several recent advances on inverse problems for anomalous diffusion, including backward problem with an unknown terminal measurement, point source identification and variable-order determination from boundary measurement etc. These results show striking distinct features of this class of inverse problems compared with the more classical parabolic counterpart.

报告人简介

Bangti Jin is a Professor of Mathematics, and Global STEM Scholar of Hong Kong SAR, at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He received his PhD in mathematics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2008. Previously he was Lecturer, Reader and Professor of Inverse Problems at University College London (2014-2022), Assistant Professor of Mathematics at University at California, Riverside (2013-2014), Visiting Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University (2010-2013), and Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Bremen (2009-2010). His research interest lies in applied and computational mathematics, including computational inverse problems, numerical analysis, and machine learning. He serves on the editorial boards of eight academic journals, including Inverse Problems and Journal of Computational Mathematics.
